    This week's smiles....week 408

Hello all.  It's been a week of highs and lows.  I was called back following my recent mammogram.  On attending the clinic they told me they had seen something in the glands under my left arm and after ultra scanning they took 4 needle biopsies and mentioned possible lymphoma.  I had to wait a full week for a phone call to tell me the time of my next clinic appointment.  They called me back on Tuesday afternoon to tell me they had found no abnormalities and I didn't need a follow up....PHEW!!  What a relief that was. I would have celebrated if only both hubby and I hadn't gone down with another dose of flu...I don't think I've ever felt so rough and am still recovering.  We just don't seem to be able to shake the bugs off. I popped out into the garden and quickly snapped as many of the flowers that I hadn't shown you before...I hope you love them as much as I do. We had the boys last weekend and shared many happy moments.  Our son, Mark, used to love his Knex as a child and he still does...that really made me smile.  He had a lot of fun with Louie while Theo was away at cub camp with his mummy. Sam is back on stage as one of only two children in the adult performance of Shrek....sadly we aren't well enough to go to see him.....his mummy has sent me lots of pics and videos so we don't miss out completely. Peggy wen't for her first haircut this week...she was such a good girl for the groomer and not only looks really pretty but her coat is soooooo soft. , That just leaves me to share my funnies with you.  I hope something here makes you smile and you will leave me a little message before sharing your smiles with us too.Hugs,Annie x

  1. Universal Studios Drops Teaser for ‘Shrek 5 ‘Which Will Feature Zendaya

Everyone’s favorite ogre is making a momentous return to take viewers back to the swamp! Universal Studios dropped a cast announcement teaser for Shrek 5 on YouTube on February 27, 2025. The film is eyeing a Christmas 2026 release and also features an exciting new cast member. On February 27, 2025, the Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that Zendaya has been cast in Shrek 5 to play Shrek and Fiona’s daughter. The film comes over a decade after the previous installment in the franchise, the 2010 film Shrek Forever After. The cast of Shrek 5 will include Mike Myers and Cameron The post Universal Studios Drops Teaser for ‘Shrek 5 ‘Which Will Feature Zendaya first appeared on TVovermind.

Conspiracy theorists are now ‘transvestigating’ Shrek—yes, really

If you had endless free time on your hands, how would you choose to spend it? Probably not analyzing the skull sizes and facial features of animated characters. However, news of another Shrek sequel has given green swamp-dweller fans a few things to overthink with the release of a teaser trailer for Shrek 5 on Feb. 27., 2025. “Facebook Schizoboomers are now Transvestigating Shrek,” posted X user @nikoxbenet on Feb. 28., 2025. Their viral post, with over 5.2M views, 264K likes, 16K reshares, 11K saves, and 833 comments, included a screenshot of a separate X post, from an account calling themselves, “Freedom Of Truth Updates.”  The screenshot, which does not include the X handle of the original poster, shows two images of Shrek’s face – one from Shrek Forever After, released in 2010, and one from the 2025 Shrek 5 trailer – with green and red lines drawn down the foreheads, noses, mouths, and chins. Below that, are two additional images, of male and female skulls, with the same colored lines showing the sizes of certain skull features. The skull screenshots have no attribution to the image sources. “Subliminal feminization of childrens media pt. 6,” is written in the caption of the screenshot. It is implied by the language and use of images that Shrek has somehow gone from being “male” in Shrek Forever After, to perhaps “female” in the upcoming sequel, indicating that animators may be trying to hide transgender messaging in the popular film series. “Imagine waking up one day and realizing people are analyzing ogre skull structures,” wrote X user @dreamyycici in the comments. “being transphobic is so concerning omg,” added X user @ladidaix. Others tried to use creativity and artistic progression to explain why the same character might look different over 15 years later. “The artist(s) responsible for the Shrek redesign are doing it because they have a new art style that emphasizes cartoonishly expressive faces,” X user @HausenFaust shared in the comments. “The Puss in Boots movie absolutely did this.” “I don’t mind it, it would be good to change things a bit since he’s probably 10-20 years older now,” added X user @cookdonut in the same thread. What is Transvestigating, and why is it a thing? According to the organization, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), transvestigation refers to the act of people using “fake pseudo-scientific ‘evidence’” to label someone or prove they, are transgender. It is typically used against celebrities and high-profile individuals, “with the underlying bigoted and ignorant implication that being a transgender person is a bad thing,” according to GLAAD. The organization also considers this kind of rhetoric to be “hate-driven conspiracy theory” which “maliciously targets cisgender public figures.” While targets are usually left-leaning and LGBTQ+ supporters (such as Madonna and Michelle Obama), theories have even been lodged against notable conservatives such as Kyle Rittenhouse and Andrew Tate. The original post seems to have been deleted, but that didn’t stop others on X from voicing their opinions and countering the information with their own jokes. “what stage of unemployment is transvestigating shrek?” wrote X user @RightWingCope, sharing the same screenshot. “Good lord.. I can promise these people that their children are not gonna notice his face being ‘slightly more feminine’ or however they wanna put it,” wrote X user @mokawonz in the comments. X user @JohnnyVomits expressed their disbelief in the comments as well. “Sometimes I think ‘there is no way this is real’,” they started. “Then I realize it is 2025 and Andrew Tate is still a thing.” Is Shrek’s daughter trans? The fan theory explained It might be a bit of a stretch to say that Shrek himself has undergone a transition, but others across the web agree that transgender themes may be present in the new sequel through a different character – Shrek’s daughter. “Pause, not to be a Shrek nerd, but I'm sure Felicia is the only girl out of the ogre triplets and she has blue eyes,” wrote X user @SarkyFancyBear, sharing an image of a new Shrek character and two images of the babies from Shrek the Third. “That means either Fergus or Farkle transitioned, let's go?” The viral post has over 7.8M views, 123K likes, 5.8K reshares, and 4.7K saves. Why is Shrek being ‘transvestigated’? James Factora, author for them.us, provided more insight on the theory about the new character, who is voiced by Zendaya. “She’s got a nose ring. She’s got green lipstick on. She has bangs and some kind of inscrutable half-up bun situation. She’s following in the family tradition of exclusively wearing green and brown clothing, but she’s accessorizing with a purple crystal necklace,” “She is, dare I say, incredibly she/they-coded,” Factora continues. “They might as well go ahead and make her a barista at Farbucks.” A more prominent clue emerged that has some thinking the teenaged cartoon may be trans. Factora explained that Shrek and Fiona had three children, named Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia. Felicia appeared to be the only girl, animated with blue eyes. However, in the trailer, Zendaya’s character has brown eyes. “Naturally, Shrek advocates and scholars have come to the conclusion that Zendaya’s Shrek character must be trans,” Factora states. “What if that isn't Felicia- SHREK HAS A TRANS DAUGHTER!?,” posted X user @KINGP0PPY, with a screenshot of baby Felicia next to the teenage Shrek character. X ussr @mochiamori_ went even harder on their fan theory. “What if I said that ogres are a metaphor for transgender people,” they wrote in the caption of their post, which included a reshare from @SarkyFancyBear. “The first shrek movie is about how shrek, an open trans man, helps fiona, a closeted trans woman, embrace her true self after her parents shunned her for not being human (aka not being císgender)." Shrek fans will have to wait until 2026 to find out if any of these theories are true. The Daily Dot reached out to @nikoxbenet via X DM for comment. Did Shrek Get a Nose Job?

Photo: Entertainment Access/Youtube Shrek might live in Far Far Away, but he looks like he just came back from somewhere even Farther Away: Turkey. In a newly released trailer for the highly anticipated Shrek 5, Shrek, Fiona, and their daughter (voiced by Zendaya), and Donkey all gather to scroll through ogre-thirst-trap memes with mister Mirror Mirror on the Wall. There’s no time to discuss how on the nose this is, because Shrek and Fiona have visibly undergone radical, off-putting facial reconstruction. I don’t care that these ogres are a mere amalgamation of zeros and ones inside some DreamWorks animator’s computer. This is serious. Donkey somehow looks the same level of goofy as before, but Shrek’s and Fiona’s new faces are … jarring. Their noses are shaped differently, their philtrums are less pronounced and longer, their lips and smiles curve in odd ways, and both of them have seemingly larger eyes. It’s like they both got processed through Alix Earle’s favorite TikTok smoothing filter, or as one user on X wrote: “rhinoplasty, lip filler, cheek implants, jaw shave, chin reduction, face lift, blepharoplasty, buccal fat removal, botox, eye lift, cheek filler.” rhinoplasty, lip filler, cheek implants, jaw shave, chin reduction, face lift, blepharoplasty, buccal fat removal, botox, eye lift, cheek filler pic.twitter.com/JhZSIrYl8D — yasmin (@ycsm1n) February 27, 2025 Animation aficionados are telling us this was inevitable — that Shrek’s look is “outdated.” But I think the studio could have given us more pixels per inch without making the whole family look like they need third-revision rhinoplasties. I'm going to gently hold everyone by the hand while I say that the original Shrek films, while amazing for their time, kind of look like ass in a modern context and some kind of redesign was going to happen no matter what https://t.co/r1iZ7TIfvF — charlie g - boxtown ✨(link in bio) (@charliepgavin) February 27, 2025 Maybe it’s the era we’re living in. Changing your face is the norm and everyone, including animated characters, are gunning for tweakments or “facial harmonizing.” A little filler here, a little Botox there, maybe a stitch or two if need be. The movie isn’t set to release until 2026, so there is still time to bully the studio into a redesign à la Sonic the Hedgehog. Everyone contact your local fairy godmother. Shrek 5 trailer horrifies fans claiming Princess Fiona’s had a ‘facelift’ in bizarre makeover

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page The new trailer for the upcoming Shrek 5 movie has left fans concerned. The franchise’s original film was released in 2001 and starred Mike Myers as the cantankerous ogre, who finds himself leaving his swamp to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) after making a deal with Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Along the way he found himself joined by Donkey (Eddie Murphy) before eventually falling in love with the Princess. The movie grossed over $492 (£389) million worldwide and was followed by three sequels – Shrek 2 in 2004, Shrek the Third in 2007 and Shrek Forever After in 2010 – as well as the spin-offs Puss in Boots and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Then, last year, it was announced a fifth Shrek film was in development. Although details of the plot haven’t been revealed, the core cast will be returning, while Zendaya will also voice Shrek’s daughter Felicia. Now, a new teaser trailer for the movie has been released, however it’s left some ‘horrified’. The upcoming movie also introduces Zendaya as Shrek’s daughter Felicia – but Princess Fiona (l) is all the talk (Picture: Universal Pictures) Many fans are not convinced by the new look (Picture: THA/ Rex/ Shutterstock) The 27-second clip shows Donkey asking the Magic Mirror who is ‘the fairest of them all’ before he replies saying ‘Shrek of course’ and showing images of the ogre pouting, dancing in a black leather bodysuit and then shirtless with a ripped chest. The pair then scream as Felicia comes on screen and expresses her disgust while Fiona declares ‘ohh mumma likes’. Shrek fans have been left ‘horrified’ by the trailer for the latest movie (Picture: Universal Pictures) As Shrek asks ‘who is making this stuff’ Pinocchio pops up and claims it wasn’t him before his nose quickly grows. Fans quickly shared their thoughts, with many not supportive of the new animation style. ‘Bring back old animation, WTF IS THIS,’ Riccoo commented on Instagram. ‘Ummm why do they look like that?’ Hope questioned. @preciousladona stated: ‘They done gave Fiona a deep plane facelift.’ ‘Please keep the original animation…’ Aria begged. ‘We’re all excited for this comeback, but to be honest, it’s not good. Bring back the old design’ Fernando added. The teaser begins with the Magic Mirror showing a series of images of Shrek being ‘the fairest in the land'(Picture: Universal Pictures) One shows him dancing in a leather bodysuit (Picture: Universal Pictures) Another features the shirtless and ripped ogre (Picture: Universal Pictures) ‘Just lost every hope on this movie,’ Jano admitted. Others called the new look ‘horrendous’ and ‘horrific’. However, user comicarlton shared: ‘Reading these comments makes me realise how little the general public knows about animation. Like Shrek 4 came out 15 years ago ofc this is gonna look different.’ Since launching 25 years ago the Shrek franchise has become the second biggest in animation history, earning $2.9 billion globally. Comment nowWhat do you think of the characters’ new looks in the Shrek 5 trailer?Comment Now The upcoming movie will also be directed by Walt Dohrn, who served as a writer and artist on Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third, and as head of story on Shrek Forever After, where he also voiced Rumpelstiltskin. However, when Shrek 5 was announced in 2024, fans also expressed their concerns too. ‘I’m not gonna lie, I’m like actually scared out of my mind about this movie,’ user Mike posted on X. The animation is visibly different to the original and it’s other sequels (Picture: THA/ Rex/ Shutterstock) ‘If it’s good, the Internet is gonna meme literally everything about it. If it’s bad, it’s gonna be another Shrek the Thrid situation. We can’t win.’ However, another declared ‘peak cinema incoming’. Before the movie was officially announced, Murphy had said in June that they started voice recording five months earlier. ‘I recorded the first act, and we’ll finish it up this year. Shrek is coming out and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey [movie],’ he told Collider. Shrek 5 will be released in cinemas on December 23, 2026. Got a story? First Teaser: Zendaya Joins Returning Cast Members Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz & Eddie Murphy For ‘Shrek 5’

There’s an all-new ogre in the upcoming iteration of the beloved Shrek franchise. Source: Taylor Hill / Getty Universal Pictures shared a new teaser on Thursday, Feb. 27, which confirms Zendaya is joining the voice cast of Shrek 5. So far, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star is the only new addition to the cast, which also includes returning stars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy. “Far, Far Away’s finest are coming,” the studio wrote in their caption to the video on Instagram. The short clip features Donkey asking the magic mirror who the fairest of them all is, all while Shrek, Fiona, and Zendaya’s new character–revealed to be their daughter–watch on. Pinocchio also makes an appearance to tell a lie that causes his nose to grow. While this role might come as a surprise to fans, it seems like it’s been a long time coming for Zendaya, who has been a vocal fan of Shrek over the years. Back in 2017, the Emmy-winner tweeted, “I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood.” Following news of her casting, the official account for Shrek shared that post and wrote, “This aged well.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by DreamWorks Shrek (@shrek) The first Shrek film hit theaters in 2001, going on to win an Oscar for Best Animated Film. Last year, she starred in Challengers and Dune: Part Two, both of which were a huge departure from her time as a Disney Channel star. Zendaya Will Star in SHREK 5 as Shrek’s Daughter

Last year, Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri hinted that Shrek 5 could be coming our way with its original voice actors reprising their roles. Now, we know that Shrek 5 is officially happening, with Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers, and Cameron Diaz returning as Donkey, Shrek, and Fiona, respectively. And there’s even a release date for Shrek 5, which was originally July 1, 2026 but is now pushed back to December 23, 2026. The film is in its early stages of development and, as Murphy previously said, a Donkey spinoff will happen sometime soon. But its latest news is some of the most exciting yet, Zendaya will be coming aboard Shrek 5. Zendaya Joins Shrek 5 as Shrek’s Daughter Shrek already has a star-studded cast, but a new Shrek movie means a new star for a new generation of viewers. And it doesn’t get any shinier than Zendaya, who is officially joining Shrek 5. Zendaya will play Shrek’s daughter in the movie. We still don’t know what Shrek 5 is about, but it looks like Shrek being a girl dad will definitely feature in the mix.
